A 21 year old man walked up to two police officers in a squad car who were showing their felon-identification computer to children in a Detroit neighborhood. When he asked how the system worked, the officers asked for his drivers license so they could demonstrate it. Moments later they arrested the man when the screen showed he was wanted for a two-year-old armed robbery in St. Louis, Missouri. Sometimes our curiosity can get us into trouble. Beginning in the Garden of Eden, Satan has used curiosity to lead people astray from God’s best. He often does this by getting them involved in things that consume time but produce little or no results. The great majority of TV programming falls into this category. We say we’re just going to watch the news, but an ad in the middle of the news makes us curious about the program coming up next hour. Learning to say no to tantalizing curiosities is redeeming the time. |
