Someone created the following list of golden rules for everyday living:
If you open it, close it.
If you turn it on, turn it off.
If you unlock it, lock it up.
If you break it, admit it.
If you canít fix it, call in someone who can.
If you borrow it, return it.
If you value it, take care of it.
If you make a mess, clean it up.
If you move it, put it back.
If it belongs to someone else, get permission to use it.
If you donít know how to operate it, leave it alone.
And, if itís none of your business, donít ask questions.
That list of advice can basically all be boiled down to one wordóresponsibility.
Responsibility simply means taking the time to treat other people like you want to be treated. Itís what Jesus meant when He said to love your neighbor as yourself. And practicing that golden rule will redeem the time.
