Imagine for just a moment that your lifetime could be pictured in terms of a daily clock where you wake up at 7:30 and go to bed at midnight. The clockís parallel to a 70 year lifespan would run something like this:
When youíre 16 and get your first car itís just after 11 a.m.
You graduate from college at 23, itís 1:30 p.m.
Your first child comes when youíre 30, itís 2:45 p.m.
You fulfill your career goal at 50, itís 7:20 in the evening
You retire at 65, itís 10:42 p.m. and midnight is just over an hour away.
What time is it for you on this imaginary clock? The chances are itís probably later than what you tend to think it is. The fact is midnight is approaching for all of us. Thatís why the Bible reminds us in Romans that ďthe night is far spent, the day is at hand.Ē It reminds us to redeem the time.
